How llamas adapt to people - small wonders in the Lama Oase

Anyone who spends time with our llamas quickly realises that these animals are gentle, sensitive and have a keen sense for people. Time and time again, we experience moments when llamas are amazingly sensitive to visitors - so much so that even we are still amazed after all these years.

A boy, a llama and a lot of courage

We would like to share one of these experiences with you: Some time ago, a boy with motor impairments visited us. He wobbled visibly when he walked. When he led one of our llamas, the animal initially reacted to his every movement - it walked unsteadily, as if it was mirroring the boy's swaying rhythm.

After a short time, however, something fascinating happened: The llama „understood“ that the wiggling was not a conscious signal. It calmed down, became very quiet and suddenly walked straight and evenly alongside the boy. This secure walk gave him noticeable support and confidence.

When a llama gives you self-confidence

 The pride in the boy's eyes was priceless. He had led a large animal all by himself - a moment that had an impact far beyond the walk. For him, it was not just a nice outing, but a real sense of achievement that boosted his self-confidence.

Such encounters show us again and again how finely llamas perceive. They not only react to external signals, but also sense the person behind them - their insecurity, their strength, their courage.

What llamas can give people

Llamas bring calm to agitated situations, provide support when someone is unsure and reflect very honestly how we are feeling at the moment. This clarity makes them special companions - for children, young people and adults alike.
