Why we need places for mental wellbeing, stress relief and re-energising right now
I get the impression that many people are currently sensing just how much our world is changing. Companies are being restructured, roles are changing, demands are increasing, and much of what used to be taken for granted is now undergoing change.
In conversations, I keep hearing about feelings of uncertainty, time pressure and the sense of having to keep going all the time. Many people long for more peace of mind, for clarity and for a place where they can simply take a deep breath.
That is precisely why my husband and I are grateful that we have created a place like the Lama-Oase, situated between Munich, Salzburg and Passau.

What people really need today
I believe that many of us don’t need any more information or any further optimisation. Rather, we long for things that are actually quite simple:
- Peace and quiet and taking things at a slower pace
- A sense of connection and genuine encounters
- Nature and Exercise
- Clarity and guidance
- Trust and security
- Time for yourself
- Moments free from the pressure to perform
Every day, our animals remind us just how soothing it can be to live in the moment.
Why animals are so good for our mental health
Animals do not judge. They make no demands and are not interested in titles, achievements or perfection. They accept us just as we are.
That is precisely where its special power lies.
Anyone setting off with our llamas, camels or donkeys often finds, after just a short while, that their breathing deepens, their thoughts become calmer and their focus returns to what really matters.
Animals live in the here and now. They know nothing of to-do lists or being constantly on call. They remind us that we don’t always have to keep speeding up.
What llamas give us
Llamas exude a special sense of calm. They are alert, curious and sensitive. They pick up on moods and encourage us to be more mindful of ourselves too.
After spending time with the llamas, many people tell us that they feel calmer, more at ease and more in touch with themselves again.
It’s not uncommon for this to give rise to new ideas, solutions or simply the feeling that you can breathe a sigh of relief.
The Power of Camels
Our camels also fascinate many visitors. They symbolise serenity, endurance and inner strength. For thousands of years, they have accompanied people along difficult paths and through inhospitable landscapes. And they do so not because we are stronger, but because they trust us and want to be by our side.
Perhaps that is precisely why they can remind us that we don’t have to solve everything straight away. That sometimes it is enough to take things one step at a time and trust that we have more strength within us than we often realise.
The Wisdom of Donkeys
Donkeys are sometimes unfairly regarded as stubborn. In fact, they are very intelligent and cautious animals. They do not act on impulse, but stop in their tracks if something seems amiss to them.
Perhaps we humans need this very quality today more than ever. It’s not always about going faster, higher or further – but sometimes about pausing, reflecting and making conscious decisions.
Our donkeys remind us that mindfulness and prudence are not weaknesses, but important skills for a healthy life.
A place to recharge your batteries between Munich, Salzburg and Passau
People from Bavaria and Austria come to us for llama treks, animal-assisted encounters, team-building activities, seminars, or simply to escape the daily grind for a few hours.
It is precisely in times of change, stress and uncertainty that nature and spending time with animals can be a valuable source of mental well-being, resilience and inner balance.
Why not come along and discover, through a llama trek, a camel encounter or a donkey trek, exactly what YOU need RIGHT NOW.
